Monthly Members-Only Drawings: Free Handmade Silk Obi Handbags
We are pleased to announce a new monthly promotional giveaway for members of YokoDana.com: a drawing for a free handmade handbag crafted from vintage Japanese silk obi fabric.
A Little Background
Last September marked our 36th year in business as exporters and importers, and our 27th year selling authentic vintage Japanese kimonos and kimono textile pieces through www.yokodana.com.
Very early on — around the year 2000 — we created our members’ program, including an opt-in newsletter and members-only discounts. Back then, sending messages online was far more primitive than it is today. Still, we already understood how important repeat customers would be for a small web-based business in such a specialized niche.
Now, more than two decades later, some of our members have been with us since the very beginning. Many first found us through YokoDana.com, while many others met us at the in-person festivals and events where we were vendors for years throughout the Northeast USA.
Looking back on the journey of our little Mom & Pop family business, we are convinced that our members helped keep YokoDana going — especially during the pandemic, when we lost our in-person event sales. For that, we are deeply grateful.
A New Way to Thank Our Members
As we look ahead to 2026–2027 and beyond, we asked ourselves: What is a new way we can thank and reward our members?
A few years ago, we began using a lottery format to distribute high-demand special kimonos and fabric bundles fairly. As a natural extension of that idea, we are now introducing a monthly members-only drawing for a free giveaway item.
For this promotion, the giveaway items will be beautiful handmade purses/handbags crafted from vintage Japanese silk obi fabric. These pieces are made in Japan by our family and trusted artisans, including Yoko’s master-quilter sister, Fumi (bags will be retail value US$35 to US$75).
We hope this new monthly drawing will be a fun and meaningful way to thank our members for their long-standing support.
