Fabric History/Pedigree: This lightweight fabric is solid Japanese cotton. Originally kimono liner, it was found with other pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by clicking HERE

Fabric Description: solid even color is solid darkest indigo -- looks black but in close incandescent light the deep indigo blue can be seen.

Condition: Excellent; Still slightly firm, the fabric softens with washing. (hand-wash separately, with lukewarm water-- see our FAQ Pages for cleaning tips.

NOTE: We judge that this is NOT an Aizome (traditional plant-based) indigo; Still, it should be washed multiple times alone, and as though it were true indigo-based.

Condition:  Excellent.

Notes: Ideal for sashiko projects; Nice information article on traditionalkyoto.com about Aizome is HERE.
