Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk deconstructed from a woman's kimono; This is a 1930s-50s fabric piece which has an orange background,with cream flossoms, leaves, pine trees and various types of traditional flowers; there are ver large scale bamboo leaves overlain; Most flowers are pastel colors, with a few dark orange, yellow and dark lavender and purples; All designs print on one side but giventhe thin nature of the fabric all is seen on reverse;

Colors used in designs: mostly lighter and pastel-type blues, red, yellow, aqua blue, pink, and white. The fabric is slightly textured, resembling chirimen, but is only lightly so. Designs are on one side.
