Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Lightweight silk, originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This old silk fabric piece has a solid-gray background and motif is replete with many types of flowers; the design is print on one side, visible on reverse; fabric's weave renders it with a slightly textured feel, similar to chirimen (crepe), but not quite; Colors used in the designs as follow: dark purple, dark green-blue, iron reds, light mustard, and off-whites; slight drape.
