Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s silk fabric pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  This is a lightweight, fine red silk with mild chirimen feel, slightly translucent with print designs of large clusters of plum blossoms on a branch with a bird perching and one with wings spread; Other figures are a mock-shibori (small tiny dots in grids) forming stylized clouds or flowers; Flowers are mostly pastel pink, and cream colors, whites, salmon and lime-green;a few flowers are dark red; flower centers have rings of yellow; Print design on one site, but somewhat visible on reverse;plus; the fabric lightly textured due to the chirimen, though not as much texture as later chirimen; fabric has slight drape
