Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Light-weight silk hand-done shibori (tie-dyed); originally intended to make kimono; This is a 1980s fabric piece with a black background, classic shibori designs of ragged-edged rectangular shapes in even rows; these elements are  5 inches X 1.5 inches (12.7cm x 38.1cm); In the center of each of these figures is a red blurry oval; the shibori dots are in white; looks the same on both sides, but by design, the front is rougher to the touch; also, the fabric measures 14 inches (35.56cm) wide, but due to the tie-dye process it can be stretched to 15 inches (38.1cm); also, if you look closely, you'll see that the black background  has an interwoven classic geometric maze with flowers.

Condition: Excellent.

Recommended for use in making scarf or accessories.
