Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is lightweight silk. lightly textured,light chirimen derived from a woman's kimono; this is white silk, but the front is full of colorful designs of obtusely shaped lined areas in patchwork arrangement-- each area a different color: dark blue, copper, and mustard-yellow; The entire fabric background is interwoven with 2 inches/5.08 cm 4-petal flowers within diamonds all in a diagonal grid; Within each obtuse area are different other flowers and honeycomb patterns; also abundant flowers of different types; colors used for designs: mustard, rust, dark yellow, olive-green, moss-green, gold, dark blues, white and off-white; Designs on one side; slight drape.
