Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor (Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE. )

Fabric Description:  This distinctive Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a slightly translucent, lightweight pongee-type silk that is black, dark blue and dark gray, with burgundy-red accents in places; the design is of large (9.25Inches/23.5cm X 5.5 inches/13.97cm) diamond shapes, filled with flowers, in a grid throughout; Within each diamond there are four-leafed figures at centers colors alternate; Please see close-ups; Colors used: black, gray, red, blues; the weave of this tsumugi piece is slightly stiff and rough to the touch.
