Pedigree: This is a 1980s deadstock (new but unsold stock) tsumugi (pongee) silk found on a roll; Originally intended for making an everyday wear kimono.

Description: This medium-weight fabric is sort of light-mauve (hint of lavender) color; Interesting design is more modern, less traditional Japanese motifs; there are geometric (right-angle) pinstripes, light gray and off-white, as well as darker mauve bars arranged running lengthwise (vertically); Aside from the lines, there are various flowers placed randomly throughout; Note also in our close-ups the tightly woven weft (side to side)threads; no-sheen, little drape as the fabric is thicker and somewhat hard to the touch.
