Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Lightweight meisen silk, slightly translucent, estimated from the 1930s-1950s; Meisen is defined literally as 'common silk stuff'; and has grown in popularity in the last few years; Meisen from that period are usually larger bold patterns, with a fuzzy look to designs, and multiple bright colors, but this one, however, is a solid dark purple background with motifs in white with some accents in dark salmon, light moss-green, and light brown; The lines of this design are irregular and very asymmetrical as to arrangement; Interpretation is unclear to us, except to say that the colors within the burst/star-like figures might hint at some modern rendering of flowers; or, starbursts of fireworks might be another interpretation; regardless, a most unique design.

Note on colors: As all devices have different colorations and contrast, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the color of the fabric.
