Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner /reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  This lightweight fabric is a traditional cotton fabric derived from a  yukata (summer cotton kimono); the fabric is only slightly stiff and a tad translucent with the background color being black with vertical (warp) 1.75 inches/ 44..45mm wide bands of pinstripes equidistant .875(7/8) inch/22.23mm apart; stripes colors: black, off-white, red, blue, burgundy-red, colonial blues -- please see close-ups; same on both sides.

Fabric Type:  Still slightly firm, the fabric softens with wash. (hand-wash separately, with lukewarm water-- see our FAQ Pages for cleaning tips).
