Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructionist called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Dark indigo-blue/black Kasuri (Ikat) yukata fabric with 1/16th inch / 1.59mm wide light blue-gray pinstripes; space between pinstripes is 3/16(.1875) inch /1.59mm; looks the same on both sides; the fabric is very slightly stiff but softens with wash (Hand-wash separately, luke-warm water-- see our FAQ Pages for cleaning tips).

Condition: Excellent.
This is a Japanese country vintage fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia ); Kasuri is a labor-intensive process where patterns are made by pre-dyed paste resistance and varying techniques used to create the sorts of patterns seen here. Because of the methods used, authentic kasuri is usually highly expensive. More info on kasuri below:
