Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-1950s, found in partial roll, deadstock, never used.

Description: Very thin lightweight, translucent, and slightly stiff; tan, orange, and olive-green colors in 8 inches / 20.32 cm deep alternating bands (viewed lengthwise -- our first(top) image is the full 68 inches/172.72 cm) view of full piece; there are thin pinstripes, running in parallel(weft) with varying widths; this is the sort of cotton used to make summer festival woman's yukata; the motif is very large-scale spider chrysanthemums extending over 2-3 alternating horizontal bands; also, the chrysanthemum flower leaves are in the orange bands; Other colors used are gray, blue, and black; This fabric and design are very much like the Meisen silks from the same period, with fuzzy boundaries of fabrics and the weave, just this is a cotton; Please view our close-ups; fabric design same on both sides.

Condition: Excellent; Still slightly firm, the fabric softens with wash. (hand-wash separately, with lukewarm water-- see our FAQ Pages for cleaning tips.
