Fabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai-Hari by textile expert John Marshall by clicking HERE;

 For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Fine, very Lightweight sheer summer silk from the 1930s–1950s, with a cream background of irregular vertical pinstripes in gray, pink, and tan; the 4-point burgundy-red diamonds (hishi)  are retro to 4-point diamonds as foreground in diagonal array; these hishi are around 5/8ths inch / 15.88 mm at longest;

Motif Details: This piece exemplifies pre-war Japanese design influenced by 1920s–1940s Art Nouveau and Art Deco from Europe and the USA; the vertical irregular stripes are more Western in style, yet with the hishi (4-Pt Diamonds), found in classical Edo and Meiji art. The pictures show one side; the reverse is a mixed beige.

Colors: Text descriptions complement your visual perception of the fabric; contrast and color may vary with devices.

Condition: Excellent. Ideal for scarves, accessories, and textile projects.
