Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's deadstock found as a roll, unused, factory bin, certified 100% silk; intended to make furisode ceremonial or higher-grade houmogi kimono.

Fabric Description Details:  This is a light-to-medium weight, not translucent, with a slight drape; 100% Japanese silk. The background color is a soft pale lavender to lavender-white, with gradation coloring differences; note the background is interwoven with subtle patterns of small elements (1 inch/2.54cm at longest),  interlocked geometric maze patterns associated with Buddhist temple and ancient shrine symbol designs, called sayagata (we have several closeups of this); Designs are 4 floral clusters as foreground to decorative cords, along with thin dark purple lines which have sparse white daisies; Flowers include: peonies, Wisteria, and white daisies; peonies are pink to peach and white; other flower colors: dark blue and dark plum; 1980s retro use of historical Earlier Period (Edo, Meiji) Japanese art designs. 100% certified Japanese silk, medium sheen; colors shift depending on type and degree of lighting.
