Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-1950s deadstock Japanese kimono silk; This fabric was originally intended for use in making a ceremonial young girl's kimono; 

Fabric Description Details:  This is a fine lightweight, translucent - but not quite sheer. The background color is solid classic vermillion (Shuiro - see our info page HERE);

The motif is bright and colorful, cascading large-scale flowers of many types; colors used in the design vary from very pale pastels to darker blues, green, peach; note the classic retro designs, including peonies, Chrysanthemums, plum and cherry blossoms, daffodils, many other types; also, decorated temari balls, tsuzumi (hand drums), and evenly shaped hexagonal decorated figures, acting as boundaries to the floral clusters;  there are also multi-colored, smaller-sized classic bamboo and Japanese maple leaves;  Designs on one side, but apparent on reverse.
