Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-1940s deadstock Japanese kimono silk; This fabric was originally intended for use in making a ceremonial girl's kimono;

Fabric Description Details:  This is a light-medium weight, minimally translucent, and slightly stiff; The background color is solid dark red; The motif is bright and colorful, cascading large-scale flowers of many types (classic retro designs), including peonies, Chrysanthemums, plum and cherry blossoms, daffodils, morning glories and many other types; also, tsuzumi (hand drums), decorative cords with tassels, and festival pinwheel figures, acting as boundaries to the floral clusters;  there are also multi-colored, smaller-sized classic pine trees; while hard to see, interwoven throughout are classic designs echoing the types and figures of the foreground.

Also, note that this fabric has an interwoven, yet mild, chirimen look and feel to it; Designs on one side, but apparent on reverse.
