Fabric Description: This piece exemplifies pre-war Japanese design influenced by 1920s–1940s Art Nouveau and Art Deco from Europe and the USA. This high-quality, delicate 1930s-1950s kimono silk is lightweight meisen fabricl an ikat (Kasuri) type weave; fabric is slightly translucent; Background color is split lengthwise burgundy-red and mustard yellow; large figures at obtuse angles are classic origami cranes (tsuru) in mixed and gradation hues of green, orange to dark-red, gray and dark lavender with off-white to dark colonial blue-grays; the motifs are the same on both sides (Please see close-ups);
