Fabric Description: This is fine lightweight silk from a girl's ceremonial kimono, delicate and translucent; Background color is a bright pink color throughout, with the entire fabric interwoven with chrysanthemum and other flowers and leaves in sheen as background (this is only easily visible in the background spaces); originally made as chirimen(crepe) but the crepe is reduced by time; the interwoven patterns have sheen; The printed designs are of large scale traditional renderings of: Royal/ Imperial Carriage, Large white doves in flight, Decorated Temari Balls and multiple flower types (classic styles), including Chrysanthemums, cherry and plum blossoms, stylized bamboo leaves and pine trees; other figures: floating kimono fabric pieces, decorative cords with tassels; Colors of the designs are many, mostly bright and dark reds, blues, purples, greens, and pastel hues of white to off-whites, some grays and blacks; also some deep purple solid backgrounds in places; Print is on one side but slightly visible on the reverse; Recommended for making scarf/accessories or even display.
