dividerFabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Light-medium weight chirimen (crepe) silk deconstructed from a younger woman's kimono; This is a 1960s  or earlier fabric piece with a soft white background color. This design is rather distinctive as it has Baroque sort of curlicues ccmbined with geometrics for all floral and stems; note the fine gold lines that are inside all the figures, evoking what in Edo times would be either gold thread or applique golds; predominant color of all figures and designs is burgundy-red; Accents at leaves or ends of flowers are black, navy-blue, dark green and colonial blue-gray. Please see closeups; Fabric is chirimen (crepe). but only slightly textured, the crepe effect more visible up close in the background cream-white.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.

Recommended for making scarf or accessories; suitable for display.

Condition: Excellent.
