dividerFabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: This is one side of a deconstructed formal obi, thicker heavy weight silk; Pictures show the 'outside' view, and one image above shows the inside; fabric is heavily embroidered and brocade; Motif of large orbs almost the full width; The center full orb has the Phoenix and flora; the other orbs have plum blossoms and flora; Main outer color is *shuiro /vermillion--see our blog commentary *HERE; There are cursive flowers and curlicues in the outer ring of the orbs; The fabric is full of dense brocade and embroidery with an abundance of metallic color threads (gold, silver, copper); please see closeups: last picture(gold) is the reverse/inside of this fabric.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
