dividerFabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

 For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description:  Lightweight silk, thin, smooth, but not sheer, is slightly translucent; deconstructed from a younger single woman's ceremonial kimono, furisode type; This is a 1930s-1950s fabric piece which has a dark peach color background;

Motif:   This fabric is interwoven throughout with many retro classic designs seen in Edo Period artwork, to include: Pine Tree Branches, Chrysanthemums and other blossoms, persimmons, bamboo leaves and peonies , all of which have sheen; all motif is on one side but due to thinness of the farbric it can be seen somewhat on reverse; fabric has nice drape, perfect for scarf-making.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
