Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces derived from deadstock 1930s-1950s kimono fabric, had been partly prepared to make kimono, but never completed.

Fabric Description: This is thin, delicate lightweight summer kimono silk, slightly translucent, originally intended for use in making a woman's summer yukata or silk kimono;  Estimated from the 1930s to early 1950s; the fabric is a purple  background and black floral designs; also, fabric has an unusual "skip-weave" weave, called ro, leaving lateral parallel stitches that are .25 inch / 6.35 mm apart; The designs are very large chrysanthemums with the small daisies; The dots and applique in gold and silver are on the flowers, and also have some remaining threads on reverse; The ro weave as described above gives the fabric a textured, even slightly stiff feel; Has never been used and is in great shape for its age.
