For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Type:  Lightweight & minimally translucent silk deconstructed from a woman's kimono; color is black background with field of daisy mums, all .875 (7/8ths) inch diameter - this comonly called komon (small crests, flowers etc); arrangement is diagonal layout: Flowers are a soft-white and centers are peach; all mums evenly spaced;  designs on one side; fabric is soft and good drape.

Recommended for making scarf or accessories.

Colors: Please consider our text descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric, as colors and contrast differ on different devices.
