For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Light-weight silk slightly translucent, deconstructed from a woman's black kimono; This is a 1960s  or earlier fabric piece which is a solid black background color with 2 large columns of concentric nested boxes design;  Line colors of design: burgundy-red, silver-white and blue centers; Same on both sides; This has little drape, and is slightly stiff; and we recommend this be used to make accessory.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
