Fabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Light-medium weight silk deconstructed from a woman's kimono; This is a 1980s  or earlier fabric piece which is a solid navy-blue background color; Motif is an abundance of flowers & their leaves, including chrysanthemums, Bellflowers, irises, and Cherry Blossoms on branches with leaves;  This piece differs from many other similar designs with the fact that the leaves, stems of the bellflowers and the Chrysanthemums dominate the space, instead of blossoms themselves; The colors of the designs are mostly pastels: light aqua-blues & grays, off-white,lavenders, light greens and a light salmon color in some blossoms; gradation coloring throughout; Note also the mock-batik look, a crinkled texture seen in the leaves and flora; please see closeups.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
