For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk, minimally translucent, deconstructed from a girl's kimono; This is a 1960s  fabric piece which has a vermillion (*shuiro) color background, with many types of childrens' traditional items, classically stylized: origami cranes, pinwheels, fans, games, lanterns, open fans, bamboo leaves, pine trees, many flowers; All colors of the spectrum are used, some of them in pastel hues, other medium darks; please see closeups.

All designs are print on one side but given the thin nature of the fabric is seen on reverse; minimal drape.

Note on colors: *For explanation of shuiro color (Vermillion), please see our blog HERE.
