Fabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk deconstructed from a woman's kimono; This is a 1930s-50s  fabric piece which has a cream and pale aqua-blue color background colors, with large red cascading stylized stream (Retro, as done in Meiji and Edo periods); The fabric is filled with many blossoms and leaves -classic renderings: Japanese maple leaves, plum and cherry blossoms; All designs are print on one side but given the thin nature of the fabric is seen on reverse; minimal drape.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
