Fabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

 For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Type: Dark indigo-blue(almost black) as dominant foreground color design, with background being off-white and several shades of blue-gray in geometric mesh geometric patterns, only partially seen; The main foreground pattern is of evenly spaced parallel bands, average i inch / 2.54 cm wide, running lengthwise (vertically), within each band are several different styles interlocking chainlinks;

Cultural Note: Interestingly, in doing background research about this Japanese pattern, we found pictures of many West-African, Ivory Coast Baule Tribe ikat patterns which look very similar to this definitely Japanese design -- just an interesting find to us.

Fabric is light-weight, minimally translucent, slightly stiff from 1960s yukata;  We recommend that this be washed separately, multiple times, will soften; please see  our care & cleaning tips page HERE.

Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.

Condition: Excellent.
