Fabric Description: This is a high-quality, unusual 1930s-1940s kimono silk  of a type we haven't seen, and haven't offered on our website for years. It is definitely a meisen silk, but is thicker and has a textured almost sponge-like feel to it; Also, when holding it up to a light a sort of silver  pinholes refraction is seen of entire fabric; when light behind it; So, we classify this as a rare medium meisen; Background color is solid copper color, with a geometric  and symmetrical reticular arrangement of black dashes which measure 1/4 inch X 1/8th (6.35mm X 3.17mm); the vertical lines (columns) are evenly spaced at 3/8th inch (.375") ; and, rows are also symmetrically spaced; these black figures are also evocative of a traditional theme in Japanese art -- swallows in flight, while not all of them are exactly that shape.

Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.

Condition: Excellent.
