Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE.

Fabric Description: This high-quality, 1930s-1950s kimono silk is a lightweight fabric, slightly translucent; Background color is off-white/gray, but designs fill figures with colors;  rather distinctive overview of geometric grid designs of whole rectangles and other irregular rectang-based shapes fill the fabric; within the various shapes are either what appear to be leaves and trees (latter represented as triangle on rectangle " trunk" figures); if looked at very closely, note the obtuse angled grid-elements filling the backgrounds of all the grid figures; we think this piece is another truly modernistism-influenced look from early post-World War 2 1950s; dominant colors used are: black, light gray, burgundy-red, ruby-red, mustard, several shades of light-gray ; Motifs are same on both sides (Please see close-ups to better appreciate this unique design).

Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.

Condition: Excellent.
