dividerFabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Light-medium weight silk is a 1980s piece from a woman's kimono; the fabric background is a grid of symmetrical rows/columns with the rectangular elements measuring 1.625 inches / 4.13cm X 1.375 inches / 3.49cm, thin single-line borders; Background color is a gently pixelated silver-white, with random rectangles in milk-white; Inside the elements are many types of flowers, to include: iris, mums, peonies, cherry and plum blossoms, heavenly bamboo (Nandina), bamboo leaves, Japanese maple leaves, others; colors are mostly earth-tones, mustard, and dark greens; Also, there are very fine-line metallic gold applique accents throughout; the size of the motifs lends this a komon (small figures/crest) look; sheen is in the silver-white rectangles but not the white ones; slight drape; designs described on one side.

Colors: Please consider our text descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric, as colors and contrast differ on different devices.
