Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner /reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  This lightweight fabric is a traditional cotton fabric derived from a  yukata (summer cotton kimono); the fabric is only slightly stiff and a tad translucent with the background color being dark indigo color(black in lower light) with vertical (warp) .25 inch/6.35mm wide bands, each comprised of thin pinstripe sides withrectangular dashes irregularly spaced lengthwise, the dash elements are fuzzy an about .75 inch/19.05mm long; the lines are a pale white with hint of blue -- please see close-ups; same on both sides.

Fabric Type:  Still slightly firm, the fabric softens with wash. (hand-wash separately, with lukewarm water-- see our FAQ Pages for cleaning tips).
