Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric was derived from a young woman's ceremonial kimono. Exceptional quality/condition for its age. Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type: Delicate lightweight mustard yellow background silk, very slightly translucent fabric. slight chirimen (crepe) feel with the background thin interwoven with classic clouds and flowers patterns-- being barely visible in the few solid areas, since fabric is filled with designs (see close-ups); the motif is of bright and multiple color designs; the open fan, pinwheels and clusters of flowers and several large objects(Bamboo leaves, lacquered picnic bako (container), royal carts) serve as the foreground, the overall fabric is replete with multiple flowers, imperial cart, royal partial view of country home porch,large bamboo leaves, and decorative cords winding in background; *Noshi decorative panels/ribbons cords and ribbons fill the background; Colors used in motifs are from most of the spectrum, with reds, blue, green, peach, purples, off white; slight drape. print on one side but mostly visible on the reverse;
