Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces derived from deadstock 1930s-1950s kimono fabric, had been partly prepared to make kimono, but never completed.

Fabric Description: This is thin, delicate lightweight formal kimono silk, slightly translucent, originally intended for use in making a woman's kimono;  Estimated from the 1930s to early 1950s; the fabric is a dark burgundy background that is fully interwoven with classic floral and geometric designs -- though faint is slightly noticeable in the few solid spaces; Motif is based on a large scale hexagonal white bordered background grid (elements are 7inches X 5.5 inches/17.78cm X 13.97cm); Foreground motif is of large colorful peonies with leaves and other flowers; colors of flowers: mustard, red to orange, slight drape; print, motifs on one side but lightly visible on reverse; this fabric is delicate, fragile, colors still good even for its age. There are a few tiny pin holes along one side;
