Item Details and Description

This is a 1980s  medium-lightweight deadstock tsumugi (pongee silk); originally intended for making an everyday wear kimono.

Pedigree: This is what is called deadstock -- new/never used stock, but aged.

Description:  This fabric is a rusty red color with a touch of salmon color; Designs are of irregularly shaped white figures (all just under 5 inches/12.7 cm at longest dimension), each with classic white backgrounds that have classic geometrics (hash tag like), fans, waves in black and light gray; each figure has camelia flowers on and around it; The flowers are light salmon and white colors with moss-green and  dark burgundy leaves; Also, within the solid background there are irregularly spaced hash tags and single lines, as well as single  swallows in flight ;  Tsumugi like this is lightly textured to the touch with some threads with 'bumps' in the weave; the fabric is slightly stiff with limited drape, typical of tsumugi.

Recommended for making scarf/accessories.

Colors:  Reminder that colors differ on different monitors and devices; please use our text color descriptions in your consideration.
