Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is deconstructed from a woman's formal kimono; This is a1930s-50s fabric piece which has a dark purple background; Background is interwoven with classic floral motifs(only easily seen in background solid purple color areas which are also in sheen); Motif is based on traditional classic floral motif, to include many types of flowers, a royal flower cart, clouds, decorated cords and tassels; flower types include: peonies, chrysanthemums, daffodils, iris, plum blossoms and others; Colors of the designs include: burgundy and cherry-reds, green, light-blues, mustard, off-white and shades of pink and peach; fabric is slightly textured, resembling chirimen but is only slightly so; designs on one side.

Condition: Excellent; As Arai-hari, there are tiny pinholes running along the side, only visible with bright light behind.
