Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: This 1930s-1950s kimono silk is a lightweight fabric, slightly translucent; Background color is black, slight sheen also; feel is softer than many other meisen's of this period; the large cross-signs are in cream color background with 4 petals in light purple-blue outlines, and lateral pin stripes within flower petals are muted burgundy-red; cross shapes measure 7.25" X 10 " (18.42cm X 25.4cm); they stagger in array lengthwise; Motifs are same on both sides (Please see close-ups).
