Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s light chirimen silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: This delicate 1960s silk is a lightweight, translucent summer kimono fabric, a slight chirimen textured cream color and white, lines in gray, black and thin lined mustard yellow accents; motif is an atypical design using what look like interlocked medallions, all rendered in rows, all in curlicue fashion creating a grid; Most likely this was from a summer garment, due to its very light, sheer nature; the fabric is not smooth to the touch, no sheen; patterns intended for one side only; has minimal drape.
Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.
