Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces derived from deadstock 1980's kimono silk roll.

Fabric Description: This is a lightweight chirimen (crepe) silk originally for use in making a kimono; the fabric is a light pastel blue background, Motif design is of small-scale (widest 2.5 inches / 5.71cm) sensu folding fans (About 'sensu' -- scroll down); In addition to the open sensu fans (all decorated), there are unfolded fans lying in the background as well; looking closely at the decorated fans, note they have a wide variety of nature themes, including sansui (mountains-water traditional design), waves, water, flowers, castle, temples, floral sprigs and more; colors of the fans are all subdued, lighter pastel colors, including peach, lavender, blue, green, , tan, peach, dark lavender and several shades of blue; Please see close-ups; fabric is a print -- designs on one side, somewhat visible on reverse; no sheen, some drape; this chirimen crepe is slightly textured to the touch, but visible texture in closeups
