Fabric Description: Lightweight, slightly translucent kimono silk from the 1950s-1960s, dark purple (almost black in low lighting) background. This piece is another example of how Japanese design was influenced starting in the 1920s by Art Nouveau and Art Deco from Europe and the USA.

The design is a seldom-seen Western-type monochromatic (cream and black) diamond lattice pattern of fine lines rendering the symmetrical diamond-shaped grid, with complex leaves, etc. within the diamond medallions; fabric has slight textured sort of chirimen.
