Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is a 1980s piece from a woman's kimono; the fabric background is partly peach-pink and vermillion color as background; the Motif theme is large-scale open Japanese fans which themselves are fully decorated with wide variety of flowers and leaves; The entire fabric is interwoven with very subtle classic designs of fans (ornate, florals) and stylized flowers and leaves - these sheen designs are more apparent in the peach-pink solid areas; there is an abundance of many types of traditional flowers as foreground motif, and decorative cords and tassel in dark purple and gold colors; This bold and bright fabric is with all sorts of classic flowers & leaves designs; As for colors: There is a predominance of reds to vermillion as accented flowers, but otherwise white, light yellows and greens, pale aqua-blue render this a striking motif due to contrast and balance of dark and lighter colors; designs on one side only; slightly textured in areas of the interwoven (sheen) designs, fabric has slight drape.
