Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1970's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE

Fabric Description:  This distinctive Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a lightweight pongee type silk that is translucent; the entire fabric is rendered by very tiny pixelated weave to create a color of fabric which is burgundy-red and black; There are  some fine interwoven darker red lines rendering soft delicate  and long bamboo leaves that flow side to side;  fabric is minimally textured to the touch due to the weave, and has no sheen; some drape; same on both sides, except that on front the bamboo leaves lines are black, on reverse they are red (see last 2 close-up images above).

Colors: Reminder that colors differ on each device so please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the look of this piece.
