 For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Very fine, delicate, soft and sheer, very lightweight  chirimen silk, deconstructed from a younger woman's summer kimono; This is a 1930s-1950s fabric piece which has a light purple-lavender color background;

This fabric is a seldom-seen motif, but valued, of a dove and peonies, one extending singly upward; and; flower Colors are all subdued gray to light blues, in gradation;  Other colors are accents in rust, red and greens; as a print, all this is on one side but due to thinness of the farbric it can be seen somewhat on reverse.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
