Fabric Description: Very fine, delicate lightweight silk, translucent (almost fully sheer), and deconstructed from a younger woman's kimono, a furisode formal type; This is a 1960s fabric piece which has a dark red solid background; Motifs fill the piece with open folding fans (sensu) throughout , accompanied by multiple bouquets of Narcissus (suisen), iris, wisteria (fuji) and plum blossom flowers -- all tied with decorative cords; same cords also extend cursively;

This piece is a rich motif, replete with multiple flower types (above),and accompanied by many of the open sensu fans serving as a sort of mid-ground or background; These are intentional designs considered as what we would call today, "retro" (to Edo Period , late 1800s Tokyo) themes/designs; other flowers: Peonies, Chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms.

Colors used for the motif are almost entiely light pastels: pinks(several differing hues), pale aqua-blue, pale whites; Even the flora (leaves etc) are dark pastels; the exception being a few dark-violet flowers singularely accented by this coloration; in the peonies yo see every color from light pinkish-white to dark reds and orange; the occasional touch of yellow to ambers; We ourselves find this one suitable for framing, as well as usual uses cited just below.
