Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's deadstock, maker's remnant pieces; unfinished with notations; This fabric was originally intended for use in making a ceremonial woman's kimono called furisode; Original kimono maker's notes are  in black ink at edge in selvage.

Fabric Description Details:  This is a light-medium weight, minimally translucent, and slightly stiff; The color is solid classic vermillion (Shuiro - see our info page HERE) ; The motif is bright and colorful, cascading large-scaled flowers of many types (classic retro designs) include: Peonies, Chrysanthemums, plum and cherry blossoms, daisy-chains acting as boundaries to floral clusters, ; also note the retro shibori-dot-like fields.

This design is significantly different in how the flowers seem to loom, cascading the length of the  fabric, 35 inches / 88.9 cm top to bottom; Colors used: different shades of lavender to purple (gradation), blues (gradation), peach, pink, white, green, gray, orange, whites; Also, note that this fabric has an interwoven, yet mild, chirimen look and feel to it; Designs on one side, but apparent on reverse.
