Fabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk deconstructed from a woman's kimono; This is a 1950s  or earlier fabric piece which has a soft-white color background; motif is of mostly Daisy Chrysanthemums and other similar stylzed; largest flower is 5 inches / 12.7cm diameter; The red and green swaths we presume to be streams or water in usual traditional renderings;  All designs are print on one side but given the thin nature of the fabric is seen on reverse; minimal drape; Being very thin, we note there is a slightly textured feel to this silk, but not a fully chirimen feel.

Note on colors: Since all devices display colors differently, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the fabric's color.
