Fabric History/Pedigree:  Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by clicking HERE

For an excellent 'how-to' do  Arai-Hari oneself, we highly recommend Kae Warnock's Blog, Chocolate Factotum:

Fabric Description:  This lightweight fabric is estimated as from 1930s-1950s, a traditional cotton fabric derived from a  yukata (summer cotton kimono); the fabric is only slightly stiff and  minimally translucent with the background color being  cream-white with .875(7/8) inch / 22.23 mm tall ragged and geometric elements in black, creating a symmetrical diagonal grid; elements have white dot centers, with randomly placed gray-blue and red centers -- please see close-ups; fabric is the same on both sides.

Fabric Type:  Still slightly firm, the fabric softens with wash. (hand-wash separately, with lukewarm water-- see our FAQ Pages for cleaning tips).

About Colors: Please remember that the colors and contrast shown may differ on different devices. Please note the colors listed in the text here.
