  • Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE

  • Fabric Description:  Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a pongee type silk-making process using raw silk threads; stripes and pinstripes run lengthwise: black lines are evenly spaced (2 inches / 5.08 cm) with unevenly spaced thinner pinstripes between them; also, lateral light-black stripes, spaced 2.5 inches / 5.08cm, rendering a rectangular block grid appearance (Please see close-ups); this tsumugi is a  light fabric but not translucent, and fairly smooth to the touch, slight sheen, same on both sides. 

  • Colors: Background is brown with a hint of copper color, stripes are in black, and light mustard pinstripes; Please use our text to get sense of color, as colors and contrast differ on various devices.
