Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is slightly translucent lightweight silk from a woman's kimono;slight textured feel, mild chirimen; fabric background color is creamy white but as the fabric is filled with designs, the dominant color is a rusty sort of brown (dark copper?) alternating with the cream-white; motif is a geometric lattice pattern of medallions interlocked hexagon shapes, 2.25 inches/5.71cm X 1.5 inches/38.1mm; within the cream colored medallions are ornate flower crests; the other dark brown-copper hexagons have classic rounded cranes within; The bands that form the grid are .25 inch/6.35mm wide with lines of dots within;Note that the juncture nodes are also hexagons, 1 inch/2.54cm X .75inch/19.05cm (Please see close-ups): designs are on one side only; slight drape.
